Mental strength and mental health were the focus of two separate discussions on Sunday for players participating in the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance 15 Summer Development Camp at St. Cloud State University.
Hans Skulstad of the Center for Sports and the Mind discussed ways to "Love your inner athlete" through improved mental strength and conditioning. The highlight of the "Raising Your Game" presentation was the placement of mousetraps on volunteer Robby House of Minnetonka, who deftly caught a variety of objects without setting them off.
Mark Wick, who served as the post-dinner speaker, gave a presentation on the importance of mental health. The longtime camp coach shared his experiences with depression and stressed that those suffering from mental health issues need to remember that resources are available to them. "You are not alone," Wick said.

Red 3, Light Blue 0
Ryan Kerr (Grand Rapids) and Tate Metcalf (Bemidji) made a combined 23 saves for the first shutout of the Development Camp as Red beat Light Blue 3-0 on Sunday to close out Day 2 at St. Cloud State University.
Cameron Kirschner (Wayzata) was involved in all three Red goals, notching a goal and adding two assists.
Benjamin Norris (Benilde-St. Margaret's) added a goal and an assist for Red, which evened its record at 1-1. Light Blue fell to 0-2 with the loss.

Green 5, Gold 1
Simon Seidl (Hill-Murray) had another strong outing for undefeated Green, scoring twice an adding an assist to give him seven points in two games.
Green goaltender Mason McElroy (Wayzata) was flawless in the first half, stopping all 17 shots he faced.
Robby House (Minnetonka) scored the lone goal for Gold. House's goal was his second in as many games.

Royal Blue 6, White 2
Royal Blue improved to 2-0 by scoring five unanswered goals, two of them coming from Brodie Ziemer (Shattuck-St. Mary's) as he finished with a hat trick. Ziemer has five points in two games.
Max Plante (Hermantown) scored a goal and added an assist, the two goals coming in a span of 29 seconds late in the first half as Royal Blue took a 3-2 lead.
Ben Miller (Hill-Murray) and Will Zellers (Maple Grove) scored for White, which fell to 1-1.
