Conference Set for August 6-7 in St. Louis Park

St. Paul, MN – June 7, 2021 – Minnesota Hockey announced today it will host its sixth annual Association Leader Excellence Conference (ALEC) on August 6-7 at the Marriott Minneapolis West in St. Louis Park. The conference will begin on Friday, August 6 with small group discussion and a social and continue Saturday, August 7 with a series of breakout sessions.

The conference provides volunteers in Minnesota with opportunities for learning best practices and networking with youth hockey leaders at the local, state and national levels. Over the past five years, the Association Leader Excellence Conference has hosted more than 350 youth hockey volunteers from nearly 100 associations.

“The Association Leader Excellence Conference is a great opportunity for the passionate volunteer leaders throughout Minnesota to come together and learn from equally energetic presenters and panelists who share their enthusiasm for the youth of Minnesota,” said Steve Oleheiser, Minnesota Hockey President. “We truly have incredible volunteers serving on our association boards, and we take pride in supporting their efforts to provide the best possible hockey experience to young players in their communities.”

In 2021, the Association Leader Excellence Conference will return to an in-person format and place an emphasis on providing opportunities for networking and idea sharing among participants. Sessions will be offered on a variety of topics such as local discipline, finance, growing the game, and player development.

“Since its inception, the conference has been a fantastic way for those in leadership positions in our community-based organizations to learn from each other,” said Glen Andresen, Minnesota Hockey Executive Director. “It also provides a valuable forum for Minnesota Hockey leadership to hear directly from our association leaders to find out what is working for them, or where they could use more support in upcoming seasons.”

Conference attendees are expected to include, but are not limited to, association presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, registrars, hockey directors, growth coordinators and more.

Registration for the 2021 Association Leader Excellence Conference is now open and can be found here. The deadline to register is Sunday, August 1. Participants traveling more than 100 miles will be eligible to have lodging expenses covered by Minnesota Hockey. Minnesota Hockey will also supply a continental breakfast and lunch during the event.
