Girls 14 Day 2: Comebacks & Goaltending Headline Day 2

District 3 vs District 8

The first game of the long day started with a scoreless first half between District 8 and District 3. D8’s Kennedy Meier tallied a goal as they held the lead from the 13-minute mark left in the game. With just a minute left, D3’s Kelsey Olson notched a goal to result in a 1-1 tie. The stellar goaltending from both teams gave the morning an exciting start! D8 Goalie Stats: Allison Olson (20 SOG, 1 GA), Peyton Nelson (18 SOG, 0GA).  D3 Goalie Stats: Sydney Ries (5 SOG, 0GA), Avery Miller (9 SOG, 1GA)

District 6  vs District 2

District 6 waited until they were down by two and ten minutes left into the game to put their rally caps on and come alive. District 2 led the whole first half, and the majority of the second until D6 put up four consecutive goals to comeback and steal the 4-2 win over D2. Senja Leeper of D6 notched two of the four goals. Kaylee Idrogo Lam of D6 also had two points with a goal and an assist apiece.

District 16 vs Districts 4 & 9

District 16 and District 4/9’s competitive match-up began as a scoring fest for the first half of the game. D16 struck first, but D4/9 responded fast with two goals to take the lead. Within 48 seconds of one another, D16 tallied three goals to pull ahead by a score of 4 to 2. The second half came with a lone goal from D16 resulting in a 5-2 win over D4/9. D16’s Jasmine Hovda had a 3-point game (2g, 1a).

District 5 vs District 15

District 5 came out flying, pouring 19 SOG and tallying four goals in the first half to give themselves a comfortable lead. The second half was scoreless as D15’s goalie Taylor Kressin stopped 23 out of D5’s 23 shots! The shared shutout between D5’s Ellers and Vanvickle resulted in a 4-0 win over D15.

District 3 vs District 10

District 3 and District 10 competed in a hard fought battle in game five of the day. D10 took the lead halfway through the first half, but D3 replied with two back to back goals to comeback and steal the lead heading into the second half. The second half came with a goal apiece for each team, resulting in D3 earning the victory for a final score of 3 to 2. Kali Schmidt scored two of the goals for D3.

Districts 11 & 12 vs Districts 4 & 9

District 11/12 came out with high energy tallying three goals in the first half, with District 4/9 adding one late goal. D11/12 had a scoring fest in the second half putting up five consecutive goal resulting in a 8-1 win over D4/9! Twelve different players from D11/12 notched at least one point in the high scoring game. Goaltender Anderson made 8/8 saves for D11/12 while goaltender Langley made 10/11.
