Three-Goal First Half Boosts Section 7 A/AA Past Section 3 A/AA

After being held scoreless Friday night, Section 7 opened the scoring early on Saturday and using goals by Cailin Mumm (Andover), Molly Pierce (Grand Rapids-Greenway) and Ava Saxe (Forest Lake) to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first half.

For most of the second half, it looked like that may be how the game finished, until Kamryn Vanbatavia (Luverne) netted Section 3's first goal of the festival with less than four minutes remaining.

Vanbatavia's goal set the stage a wild back-and-forth finish. Emma Welch (Cloquet) responded less than 20 seconds later to regain a three-goal lead for Section 7. Then, Lily Anderson (Eagan) buried a feed from Anna Shandorf (Rosemount) to make it 4-2 and gave Section 3 life once again, before Emily Litchke (Cloquet) sealed a 5-2 win for Section 7 with an empty net goal.
