Rec League Families,

We hope everyone enjoyed their return to the ice this past weekend! The schedule has been updated online through Jan. 31, with many teams beginning games this weekend. Minnesota Hockey recently released guidance for games in its Phase 5 rules. Here are a few of the highlights.

  • One spectator per player may now be allowed at practices but should still be limited as much as possible.
  • A maximum of two spectators per player will be allowed for games, with exceptions for parents or guardians who must bring in young children.
  • Participants may bring a small drawstring bag or small backpack to carry smaller items.
  • Goaltenders may enter the facility 15 minutes before scheduled ice times as opposed to 10 minutes.

In addition, we received reports from multiple arenas regarding COVID-19 protocols. We understand there's a lot to grasp, but it's important everyone does their part to keep all of our teams on the ice. Here are a few key points:

  • Participants must wear masks at all times. Additional details are available in this FAQ and list of approved masks
  • Players must come dressed and arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before the ice time, with exceptions for goalies.
  • No equipment bags, with exceptions for goalies.
  • Anyone experiencing symptoms per MDH Decision Tree should stay home.
  • Any player or coach who receives a positive COVID-19 test result or has a household member who tests positive must notify the Rec League via email at mnrechockey@gmail.com

The complete Rec League COVID-19 Preparedness Plan is posted here and will be updated with the latest Phase 5 guidance soon.

Finally, the League asks you to remind your athletes to please adhere to this guidance. The mask rule is just like any other rule in our game right now. Any player or coach not adhering to it will be subject to consequences. Keep your team out of the box and more importantly keep our league on the ice!

Thank you!
