Conference Set for April 25-26 in St. Louis Park & Mankato

St. Paul, MN – January 21, 2020 – Minnesota Hockey announced today it will host its fifth annual Association Leader Excellence Conference (ALEC) on April 25-26. The conference will start on Saturday, April 25 at the Marriott Minneapolis West in St. Louis Park, followed by a second day of sessions taking place at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel & Event Center in Mankato, MN on Sunday, April 26.

The conference will provide volunteers in Minnesota with opportunities for learning best practices and networking with youth hockey leaders at the local, state and national levels. Over the past four years, the Association Leader Excellence Conference has hosted more than 350 youth hockey volunteers from nearly 100 associations.

“The Association Leader Excellence Conference is a great opportunity for the passionate volunteer leaders throughout Minnesota to come together and learn from equally energetic presenters and panelists who share their enthusiasm for the youth of Minnesota,” said Steve Oleheiser, Minnesota Hockey President. “We truly have incredible volunteers serving on our association boards, and we take pride in supporting their efforts to provide the best possible hockey experience to young players in their communities.”

In 2020, the Association Leader Excellence Conference will once again place an emphasis on providing opportunities for networking and idea sharing. Sessions will be offered on a variety of topics such as local discipline, finance, growing the game, and player development.

“Since its inception, the conference has been a fantastic way for those in leadership positions in our community-based organizations to learn from each other,” said Glen Andresen, Minnesota Hockey Executive Director. “It also provides a valuable forum for Minnesota Hockey leadership to hear directly from our association leaders to find out what is working for them, or where they could use more support in upcoming seasons.”

Conference attendees are expected to include, but are not limited to, association presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, registrars, hockey directors, mite coordinators and more.

Minnesota Hockey would like to thank JLG Architects, Rink Systems, SportsEngine, The Hockey IntelliGym and Viking Trophies for their outstanding support of this event.
