In July, Minnesota Hockey (“MH”) hosted its first-ever Never Too Late Hockey Camp, which provided kids ages 9-12 who had never played organized hockey the chance to participate in a four-week hockey camp. The Never Too Late Camp received rave reviews as it showed how children of all ages can join hockey.

The same holds true for adults too.

The Adult Hockey Association (“AHA”), a MH affiliate, hosts a co-ed beginner hockey school twice per year for that exact reason. The school, much like the Never Too Late Camp, challenges the notion that hockey is a game that must be started at a young age to be enjoyed.

The AHA Hockey Beginner School is designed to teach adults the game of hockey in a positive and low-stress environment.  Once players graduate, they can choose to stick with their fellow participants as a team and enter AHA League play. Players who wish to join with friends or co-workers can also be registered together.

Run twice per year (November - April and April - August), the program takes students through the basic skills of hockey and introduces players to the concepts of team play. The school consists of 10 on-ice instructional sessions and 10 games, mainly on Wednesday evenings.

Players participating in the school must wear full equipment. Limited goalie equipment may be available for rent for players interested in playing goalie.
