Minnesota District Tier I Playoffs Announced

14U Semifinal and Final Games at Plymouth Ice Center will be Streamed Live by MNHockey.Tv

The Minnesota Tier I District playoffs for berths in the USA Hockey National Championships in April will kick off this weekend with semifinal action at the Plymouth Ice Center in Plymouth, Minn. The Tier I semifinals and championship games in the Youth 14U and Girls 14U classifications have been set following the conclusion of the League playoffs this past weekend. The champions at the Youth 14U level will advance to the National Tournament in Chicago, Ill. April 1 – 6, 2020. The champions at the Girls 14U level will move on to the National Championship in Blaine, Minn., April 2 – 6, 2020. The Minnesota District semifinal games will kick off Saturday at 12:15 p.m.

A total of 10 District playoff games will be streamed live by MNHockey.Tv, and will be hosted on www.minnesotahockey.org. The live streams will be free to the public.

Youth 14U – The Youth 14U semifinals will feature the top three teams from the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Tier I Fall League Playoffs as well as Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep School. The league champion Walleye (District 3) enter the district playoffs as the top seed and carry a 12-game unbeaten streak against league opponents into their semifinal matchup against the Moose (District 8), who upended multiple higher seeded teams in league playoffs to qualify for districts. The Loons (District 2), who posted a 13-2-2 record this fall, will draw Shattuck in the other semifinal game. The Walleye/Moose matchup starts at 2:15 p.m. on Rink C. The Loons/Shattuck opens at 2:30 p.m. on Rink A.

Girls 14U – The Girls 14U semifinals will feature the league champion and unbeaten Lakers (16-0-1) as the top seed taking on the Walleye (District 3), who finished second in regular season standings and handed the Lakers their only tie, in the first semifinal. The Green Giants (District 10), who have won the past two Minnesota District Girls 14U titles and claimed the National Championship in 2018, will draw the third seeded Moose (District 8) in the second semifinal. The Lakers/Walleye game kicks off at 12:00 p.m. on Rink C. The Green Giants/Moose will start at 12:15 p.m. on Rink A.

As the host district of the 2020 USA Hockey Girls 14U National Championships in Blaine, two Girls 14U teams will advance from District Championship. Therefore, the Girls 14U playoff will be held in a double elimination format with the two opening semifinals, championship game and consolation championship being live streamed here.

Minnesota Hockey will also host District Championship at the Youth 15 level on October 12-13 at Plymouth Ice Center, following the conclusion of the CCM HP Youth 15 Tier 1 League Playoffs, which will be held this weekend in Blaine. The Girls 16U/19U Tier I will be held at Plymouth Ice Center on October 22 and Girls 19U Tier II/Girls High School, will be held on  October 24 at the Super Rink. The Youth 16U Tier I District Championship will take place at the Super Rink on November 5.
