Weekend 2 for the Girls 14U was a true midwestern gathering!  We had Team Wisconsin and Team North Dakota join the fun, in addition to the Madison Capitals!

The Green Giants faced off against the Moose.  Rogers’ Avery Achterkirch helped the Green Giants secure a 3-2 win with both a goal and an assist in the first half.  The Moose came back in the second half with two goals but couldn’t quite catch up to the Green Giants.  On Rink 1, the Walleye took on Team Wisconsin.  The Walleye dominated the second half, securing a 5-3 win.  Mound Westonka’s Gretta Pioske scored one of the second half goals for the Walleye, in addition to 3 assists.  Game two on Rink 1 was the Lakers vs. the Madison Capitols.  Edina’s Lauran Zawoyski helped the Lakers defeat the Capitols 3-2 with a goal each half.  For the last game of the night on Rink 2, North Dakota took home the Big W against the Polars.  North Wright County’s Jenna Allen secured the only goal for the Polars with under 3 minutes left in the game to make sure NoDak didn’t go home for the night with a Shut Out.

Saturday morning was a busy one in Shakopee for the Girls 14U.  We kicked off the morning with the Walleye dominating the Moose 6-0.  The game between the Green Giants and the Madison Capitols was a bit closer, but the Madison Capitols pulled away in the second half taking home a 5-2 win.  Next up the Lakers took on North Dakota.  Edina’s Hannah Halverson and Lauren Zawoyski both scored two goals for the Lakers, while Holy Family’s Sedona Blair fought hard to keep the net empty.  In the end, the Lakers won 7-1.  Team Wisconsin took the ice against the Voyageurs.  The Voyageurs took to the ice with 7 players!  They ended the first half down 1-3, which was impressive with such a limited bench.  IN the end, they couldn’t keep up with Wisconsin’s full bench.  Wisconsin’s Kendall Sundy logged two goals helping the team win 7-1.  Grand Rapids’ Riley Toivonen, The Voyageurs Goalie, had an impressive 35 saves for the game.  The last game of the morning saw a matchup between the Blue Ox and the Loons.  Mahtomdei’s Anna Jerylo had two goals and two assists for the Loons, in addition to Stillwater’s Ashlyn Hoff securing two goals to help the Loons defeat the Blue Ox 8-1.

For the first game of Saturday evening, the Blue Ox took on North Dakota.  NoDak’s Taylor Brueske secured a hat trick, helping her team take home a 7-2 win over the Blue Ox.  The Polars took on the Madison Capitals on Rink 1 shortly after.  Josie VanKuyk of North Wright County and Aubree McDonagh of River Lakes scored 2 goals for the Polars, but the Polars still weren’t able to keep up with the Capitals who secured two goals both halves.  Loons took on the Voyageurs for the final game of the night on Rink 2.  Both teams played a competitive game, ending in a 2-2 tie.  We closed out the night with an active game between the Lakers and Team Wisconsin.  The Lakers dominated the game with a 9-1 win respectfully.  Prior Lake’s Ava Guillemette and Edina’s Lauran Zawoyski both took home hat tricks for the Lakers.
