This past weekend, nine teams took the ice in Burnsville and Minnetonka as they participated in the start of the Minnesota Hockey CCM High Performance Youth Tier I 14U League.
Eight of the teams hail from Minnesota. Team North Dakota is a participant in the league this season.
After the opening weekend, the Loons and Lakers sit atop the standings with six points. The Loons went a perfect 3-for-3 in their games and outscored their opponents 17-5. The Lakers, meanwhile, finished the weekend 3-1. Their last win came on Sunday after losing their first game of the season the day before.
Tyler Barsness (Coon Rapids) leads all skaters after his 7-point weekend. Luke Garry (Minnetonka) ended the weekend with six points (3 goals, 3 assists). Among goaltenders, Leif Ekblad of Team North Dakota holds the top save percentage at .962.
League play continues after a break for the Labor Day holiday. Action resumes September 6 with the majority of play taking place at Fogerty Arena in Blaine.
