Early scoring flurry lifts 17 Blue past 17 Red

Hunter Newhouse (Minnetonka) and Jonny Meiers (Eagan) each scored twice to lead HP 17 Blue past HP 17 Red 7-3 on Saturday at Plymouth Ice Arena.

Meiers, Joey Miller (Blake) and Grant Slukynsky (Warroad) each scored in the first 6 minutes, 20 seconds as 17 Blue raced to a 3-0 lead.Cade Ahrenholz (Lakeville South) scored twice in less than five minutes to pull 17 Red to within 3-2, but Meiers’ second goal gave 17 Blue a 4-2 lead at the half.

Newhouse scored both his goals in the second half to put 17 Blue comfortably ahead.

Goaltenders Dominik Caspers (Marshall) and Noah Rupprecht (Thief River Falls) combined to make 30 saves on 33 shots for 17 Blue.

Lamb's late goal allows 16 Blue to forge tie with 16 White

Brody Lamb (Dodge County) scored late in the second half to lift 16 Whtie into a 5-5 tie with 16 Blue.

Lamb’s goal came with 1:17 remaining on an assist from Charlie Lurie (Shattuck-St. Mary’s). He also had an assist. 

Consecutive second-half goals by Connor Mahony (Shattuck-St. Mary’s), Brady Yakesh (Benilde-St. Margaret’s) and Max Strand (Roseau) turned a 4-1 16 White deficit into a 4-4 tie.

Joseph DelGreco (Grand Rapids) scored to put Blue ahead 5-4 late in the second half.

Jack Wieneke (Maple Grove) had the best game among the four goaltenders who saw action, stopping 19 of 20 shots for 16 White.

17 White survives frantic finish, holds on to beat 17 Red

Nikolai Dulak (Mahtomedi) scored twice to lead 17 White to a 5-4 victory over 17 Red and Tristan Broz (Blake), whose hat trick wasn’t enough to carry his team to a win.

Broz scored twice in the first half, which ended with Red leading 3-2. He also scored with :21 seconds remaining as part of a frantic finish. 

White used consecutive goals by Dulak, Joseph Pierce (Hermantown) and Blake Perbix (St. Cloud Cathedral) to take a 5-3 lead. Goaltender Louden Hogg (Edina) stopped 15 of 16 shots in his half of play for 17 White.

Maple Grove's Brandon Reller helps 16 Red ease past 16 Blue

Brandon Reller (Maple Grove) had a goal and two assists as 16 Red cruised past 16 Blue 5-1.

Jack Stark (Chaska) stopped all 12 shots he faced, and fellow 16 Red goaltender Croix Kochendorfer (Cretin-Derham Hall) stopped 15 of 16 shots.

Clayton Fischer (Maple Grove), Haden Kruse (Brainerd), Aaron Pionk (Hermantown) and Jax Schauer (Hastings) also scored goals for 16 Red.

Connor Thompson (Centennial) had the lone goal for 16 Blue.

16 White shuts out 16 Red

Jack Wieneke (Maple Grove) and Trevor Boschee (Prior Lake) combined on a 19-save shutout to lead 16 White to a 3-0 victory over 16 Red.

Boschee, a freshman, made 13 saves and Wieneke, a sophomore, stopped six shots.

Frank Lindgren (Minneapolis), Brody Lamb (Dodge County) and Connor Mahony (Shattuck-St. Mary’s) scored for 16 White, and Max Strand (Roseau) had a pair of assists.

17 White tops 17 Blue

Defenseman Wyatt Kaiser (Andover) scored twice, and Louden Hogg (Edina) stopped all eight shots he faced to lead 17 White past 17 Blue 4-1.

Kaiser scored late in the first half to put 17 White had 2-1 and scored again within the first two minutes of the second half.

Lyncoln Bielenberg-Howarth (Rochester Century) and Maxwell Meekin (Eagan) scored the other 17 White goals. Bielenberg-Howarth added two assists.
