Minnesota Hockey will host its second annual Gold Rush Girls Hockey Camp, featuring instruction from 2018 Gold Medal-winning Olympians and members of the 2019 Isobel Cup Champion Minnesota Whitecaps. The four-day camp will be held June 24 – June 27 at Shakopee Ice Arena in Shakopee, Minn.

The camp will be led by Whitecap member and Minnesota Hockey Female Player Development Coordinator Brooke White. Joining her on-ice and providing instruction over the course of the camp will be Olympic gold medalists Sidney Morin, Kelly Pannek, Maddie Rooney and Lee Stecklein, who was also named the 2019 Isobel Cup MVP.

The 10U and 12U camps will provide players with four hours of on-ice skill instruction over a four-day span, while the 8U players participate in two hours of ice time over two days. In addition to on-ice instruction, the camp will also include daily off-ice athletic activities to promote the importance of multi-sport athletes like Rooney, who was also a softball player at Andover High School, and an opportunity for photographs and autographs with the Olympians.

“My teammates and I are so thrilled to be a part of this camp,” said Rooney, who backstopped Team USA to the gold medal after starting all but one game in the Olympics. “Winning the gold medal was an amazing experience. I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with more girls who have the same dream.”

The camp will be limited to 60 participants at the 8U level, 50 participants in the 10U age group and 40 participants in the 12U age group. All spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
