Minnesota Hockey will host the fourth annual Association Leader Excellence Conference (ALEC) on May 4-5, 2019. The event will be held Saturday, May 4 at the Marriott Minneapolis West in St. Louis Park, MN, with a second session taking place at the Hampton Inn in Bemidji, MN on Sunday, May 5. The ALEC provides hockey leaders in Minnesota with opportunities for learning best practices and networking.
Over the past three years, over 250 leaders from more than 80 youth hockey associations in Minnesota have gathered at the ALEC to learn and share ideas on how to improve youth hockey.
Registration for the 2019 Association Leader Excellence Conference will be posted in March.
Who will attend the conference?
All types of youth hockey leaders have attended the ALEC including association presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, registrars, hockey directors, girls' coordinators, mite coordinators, district board members and more!
What topics will be covered?
Participants will have the opportunity to attend sessions on a variety of topics. Multiple sessions will take place simultaneously so associations are encouraged to have several representatives attend or focus on the topics that are most important to their organization. Key topics will likely include the legal aspects of operating youth athletic associations, managing finances, fund raising, membership development, player development and many more.
What should I bring?
Best practices from your community! Every youth hockey association has areas where they excel and opportunities to improve. By providing opportunities for attendees to share ideas, ALEC will enable associations to learn from each other so that everyone benefits.
