End of the season postcards are a great way to send players and families a personal note thanking them for the season and inviting them out next year
Focus on fulfilling the three promises: FUN, instruction and achievement. Incorporating the ADM model can help by maximize fun and player development at the same time
Take advantage of USA Hockey's Welcome Back Week to contact any players that have participated in past years but haven't signed up yet.
Improve your association's communication. Keep the parents informed and happy
Consider making association rule changes to help prevent burnout such as: game number limitation, number of practices per week, travel limitation, limit number of tournaments
Refrain from Sunday morning practices for Mites and Squirts and avoid Wednesday evenings. Schedule ice around religious education and Church events in your area
Provide teams for U16's and Junior Gold for those players who do not or cannot play high school hockey
Send out post-season postcards to recap the season & invite them back for next year
Host an awards banquet to recognize players and volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Encourage kids to come back next season. Could place an extra emphasis on kids that are “graduating” from mites into squirts and the travel hockey program. Make sure the kids know it is a big achievement.
