White Bear Lake hosted a celebration of girls' hockey this winter featuring six teams, seven games and nearly 200 girls' hockey players
Create a subcommittee with the sole focus of increasing girls' participation
Host girls only try hockey events
Start a mentoring program between the Girls' Varsity members and participants on the youth teams
Provide social opportunities for girls' hockey players to interact with potential players in and outside of hockey settings
Encourage past girls' players and moms to become more active as coaches
Work with local Girl’s Scouts troop (there is a badge for trying hockey).
Keep in mind that while girls should be provided the same opportunities to play as boys, they can have different interests and values when it comes to participation
