Season Recap
The Eveleth-Gilbert-Virginia-Mesabi East Golden Bears 12U season is one to remember. With 29 wins, one loss and one tie, these girls gave it their all each game.
The girls won the Hopkins 12U B and the Superior 12U B tournaments. They finished second place in a nail-biting, double overtime, shootout, championship game against Cloquet in the Cloquet tournament. We finished our regular season going into District 12 as the number one seed.
Winning the North Region championship game was icing on the cake for the season they have had. With every girl on the team scoring at least one goal and stellar goaltending, these girls were on their way to the top!
Our girls youth hockey program started a short four years ago. What has been built in those four years has been amazing! This season has been a major accomplishment as our team was the first youth hockey team in 10 years from Eveleth to make it to the State Tournament. We headed to state with a lot of confidence and a belief that we could take home the championship. Our girls were peaking at the right time and were ready. Hopefully all their hard work will continue as they move onward into high school and beyond!
