Anoka-Rogers 15U A
Season Recap
The Anoka/Rogers 15U A team was made up of girls from Anoka, Rogers, Champlin Park and Coon Rapids, many of whom played together for the first time this year. The team had a non-parent head coach who was also new to many of the girls. The season was a busy one with filled with late nights, hard work and lots of fun, with the team coming together both on and off the ice. The girls had the opportunity to play a team from China during the season, and while we came up short on the final game score, the memories made while spending time with them off the ice will last a lifetime.
Speaking of on the ice, the regular season team stats were impressive with a total of only 59 goals against and 169 goals for in 53 games played resulting in a record of 41-6-6. The girls captured the District 10 league and tournament championships, sending us off to the region tournament. The girls earned the second seed from the National Region and were playing great going into the state tournament.
The girls were disappointed to miss out on the opportunity of playing together in the state tournament as that would have been the icing on a great season. However, they made the best of it by spending the last night together as a team before heading home. Many of the girls will be moving onto high school teams next season, and while they may be playing against each other on the ice, the friendships and memories they made this year will keep them rooting for each other regardless.
