Hermantown Bantam AA

Season Recap

Hermantown capped off an extremely successful season by winning the North Region Championship Game defeating Moorhead in a thrilling back and forth battle.  A goal by Zam Plante midway through the third period broke a 1-1 tie and goalie Garron Opsahl secured the victory with a penalty shot save in the final minutes of the third period.

The North Region Championship wasn’t the only hardware the team took home this year, as they also won the Moose Goheen Tournament, with a 6-5 victory over Osseo-Maple Grove, and the Blue Ox Tournament, defeating Moorhead 4-3.  The team also took second in the Stan Ostby and third in the Spirit of Duluth.  The team finished with an impressive 40-6-1 record, despite not having a full roster from early December through playoffs due to numerous injuries and illnesses.

While stacked with talent, the 2019-2020 Bantam AA team will leave a much larger legacy within the Hermantown program.  This year’s team has forever elevated the program standard for competitiveness and work ethic.  It was truly a team of selfless competitors, willing to lay everything on the line for their teammates and pay the price, day-in and day-out for their ultimate goal of a state championship.  The future is bright in Hermantown.
