The Minnetonka Peewee AA team was very excited and honored to compete in the 2020 State Tournament. The Skippers were peaking at the right time and prepared to test themselves against the state's best.
Minnetonka played a very challenging schedule, which helped teach valuable lessons on and off the ice as the season progressed. By the end of the year, all players were finding a way to contribute to the team's high level of play.
The first big best of the year was the Big Pumpkin tournament in which Minnetonka took third place. The next tournament was the Edina Invitational in which they took fourth place. The regular season highlight of the year was the Roseau tournament as they took second place. The kids had the time of their lives riding the bus together, ice fishing, mullet haircuts, and chasing each other around the hotel.
As Regions approached, the boys in blue knew they had a tough road to State but were up to the challenge. Playing their best hockey of the year they defeated Rogers twice, Lakeville South, and Edina in overtime to advance to the State Tournament in dramatic fashion. The 2019-2020 Minnetonka PeeWee AA season was memorable and will be a highlight in the lives of the players, coaches and families along with the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association community.
