White Bear Lake Orange Peewee B

Season Recap

The White Bear Lake PeeWee B Orange hockey season was filled with excitement, adversity, and team unity.  Whether it was rallying around injured teammates, displaying a strong work ethic in practice, or showing a genuine respect for each other, the boys united and became a team with an unbreakable bond.  They would battle their way through the regular season, through the District and Region Playoffs, all the way to the state tournament qualifying game.

The state qualifying game started dreadfully for the Bears as Minnetonka took a commanding 3-0 lead deep into the 3rd period, and it seemed the Bears’ season was coming to an end.  A timeout was called, and the players made a promise that they would not quit on each other.  That promise would quickly be proven sincere off the ensuing face off, with the Bears scoring in just 14 seconds.  One minute later, a gutsy blocked shot turned into a breakaway goal to bring the Bears within one.  As the game clock wound under a minute, the Bears forced a turnover and scored to tie the game! One minute into overtime, the Bears would score again, sending the Bears players over the boards, into a joyous victory pile, and ultimately to the State Tournament!

In the end, the players' unwavering coachability, strong work ethic, and amazing team unity would be the backbone of their commitment to never quit on each other.  A promise they made to each other when the season seemed all but over.  A pact they lived up to when each of the lines contributed a goal during their epic comeback.  And a goal they achieved by orchestrating a comeback that few involved in will ever forget.
