Season Recap
North Shore Peewee B had two coaches share their thoughts and highlights from the season.
Coach Wade LeBlanc:
The one moment that sticks out the most for me was playing Thief River Falls in the first game of Regions. We were down 1-0 almost the whole game. We tied it up to make it 1-1 with 48 seconds left. We took a time out and discussed a face off play. The play worked to perfection. We scored six seconds later and won the game 2-1.
It is a wonderful feeling as a coach to see the players watching and listening during a time out, and then executing what we just went over. That win gave our team the confidence to play well the next two games and win the region.
Seeing every player score their first goal of the year throughout the season was also a highlight for me.
On a separate note, a great job to the whole arena staff for providing the best place to play hockey in the Hockey State.
Coach Zachery Harrison:
Going into this season, I didn’t know what kind of team we would be. With the kids we had to move up to bantams from last season, no one had a clue what this team could accomplish. This team really grew into its own though.
There is so much to reflect on from the season, but my favorite thing from the season is how the kids came together for the Region Tournament. We did not know how we would match up with some of the bigger programs in the area, and the kids didn’t let that bother them. At the start of the season, we told them "Work Hard, Never Give Up, and most of all Have Fun." They really put those words into action. They started the first game strong and never let up. The kids truly earned the Region Championship.
