Mahtomedi Peewee B

Season Recap

From their very first practice together, Mahtomedi PeeWee B1’s goal was a State Championship.

It didn’t take long before the boys started trusting each other, started playing as a team and started truly enjoying being teammates.  The wins certainly followed.  When all was said and done, the team was 43-1, had won the Spring Lake Park Panther Classic, YHH’s The Gobbler, their out-of-town tournament in Bemidji, the District 2 League Championship, the District 2 Play-off Championship, and the very tough East Region tournament.

Despite the heart breaking end to their season, so many memories and friendships were made along the way.  Head Coach John Decker says his favorite memory was their last practice before Christmas. Instead of their normal player vs. player shoot out, they decided to do coaches vs. players.  Coach Decker said, as he watched the players get all riled up, yelling and cheering each other on, and everyone working together to beat the coaches, he knew this team could win it all.  They believed in each other, and they believed this year was theirs.

The Mahtomedi PeeWee B1s would like to thank their coaches, parents, siblings and all the friends and family that cheered them on this season.  Congratulations to all the other teams that made the State Tournament!
