The Minnesota Hockey Essay Contest, presented by Park Dental, is an annual tradition that encourages players to express their thoughts on what makes youth hockey a positive environment.
All registered Minnesota Hockey participants are encouraged to enter the contest by completing the following: “I Am Thankful I Play Hockey For [Home Association] Because…”. Submissions will be accepted from October 22 through November 25.
The top three essays will be featured during the Fox Sports North broadcast of Hockey Day Minnesota on January 18, 2020. They will also be featured in Let’s Play Hockey magazine and have the opportunity to attend a Minnesota Wild home game this season. In addition, the contest winner will receive a “dream day” experience on a Minnesota Wild gameday during the 2020-21 season.
The winner of the 2018-19 Minnesota Hockey Essay Contest was Nikolai Kaliszewski, a Mite player in the Duluth Woodland Youth Hockey association. Nikolai and his friends and teammates got to experience his “Dream Day” on Sunday, October 20 when the Minnesota Wild faced the Montreal Canadiens. Nikolai’s winning submission, as well as videos of all the finalists from last year, can be found here.
