The Minnesota Hockey Hard Divider Program is designed to aid our community based associations and their home rinks in promoting the growth of ice hockey through the implementation of cross-ice hockey. The program offers a $2,500 subsidy to Minnesota Hockey affiliated associations that register to purchase a “hard divider” system. 

Cross-ice hockey is not only a major component of player development through the American Development Model (ADM), but it also provides a more efficient way to use ice time and space. Most importantly, the smaller playing surface gives children a greater sense of enjoyment when playing hockey. Cross ice hockey allows for players to increase the number of times they touch the puck, their puck possession time and overall speed in playing situations—all of which translate into quicker development of individual skills and a passion for the game.

Eligibility

Associations applying for the grant must commit to purchasing one set of “hard divider” boards through Minnesota Hockey.  The association will be responsible for paying $6,400 to Minnesota Hockey. (The total cost is $8,900 and will be covered in part by the Minnesota Hockey subsidy.)  As a component of the subsidy, the boards may include logos of Minnesota Hockey's corporate partners.

 Associations who took part in the program last season are once again eligible this season if they would like to purchase a second set of boards. 

Payment will be made as follows: $1,000 deposit with this application and $5,400 which includes shipping at the time the dividers are shipped. The deposit is non refundable based on approval of the application. Associations that aren’t approved for a grant shall be reimbursed.

In order to maximize the effectiveness of the cross ice hard dividers and further train coaches on the American Development Model, associations are expected to host one free Coach Development Clinic during the season to qualify for this grant.
