Orono is a District that is small in size, but big in achievement. Our uniqueness begins with a single campus setting, including the Orono Ice Arena, nestled against 2,000 feet of lakeshore. But the connectedness we enjoy goes far beyond facilities and a serene natural setting. Our schools are a vital part of the communities we serve and we enjoy tremendous support from the residents of these communities.
In 2014, Orono was distinguished with five national awards. Orono High School was one of only two Minnesota High Schools to be distinguished on all four “best of” lists: America’s Top High Schools (Newsweek), Top High Schools (The Daily Beast), America’s Most Challenging High Schools (The Washington Post) and Best High Schools/Gold Medal (U.S. News & World Report). In addition, the district was named a National District of Character by the Character Education Partnership.
Community members take pride in the high levels of accomplishment of Orono student-athletes. Spartan hockey is a big part of the school’s tradition of success, and is supported by a strong youth program.
All candidates must apply online. The application deadline is May 15, 2015.
