As the governing body for youth hockey in Minnesota, Minnesota Hockey is committed to providing our community based associations with the training, education and resources they need to grow the game, maximize player development, and ensure participant safety.
Hockey Education Program (HEP): HEP ensures a positive athletic experience for youth hockey players by integrating a progressive approach to skill development with coaching excellence and accountability through Fair Play
Gear Up Minnesota!: Gear Up Minnesota! – a joint effort between Minnesota Hockey, Total Hockey and the Minnesota Wild Foundation – awarded starter hockey equipment grants to 36 community youth hockey associations in Minnesota 2013.
Excellence in Coaching: HEP Excellence in Coaching Program recognizes youth hockey coaches at all levels whose behaviors provide for a positive athletic experience allowing players to develop to their greatest potential, have fun and learn to love the game.
Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month: The Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month recognizes the many wonderful off-ice volunteers that are so vital to the success of a hockey association. Total Hockey and Minnesota Hockey want to make sure that the time and energy these volunteers selflessly dedicate to hockey is properly acknowledged.
Recruitment & Retention: Programs and information dedicated to recruiting new players and retaining existing players through communication, education, and the promotion of the game of hockey
Safety: Minnesota Hockey and USA hockey with the support of coaches, officials and association leaders have worked hard at providing a safe environment for players. There are number of programs and resources that have been put in place and Minnesota Hockey is committed to improving those programs to ensure players safety in the future.
Scholarships: Each year Minnesota Hockey offers scholarship awards to eligible, registered members of Minnesota Hockey. These scholarships can be used at any post high school institution and are a one-time award.
