Can’t stop thinking about Team USA’s women capturing Olympic gold? We can’t either! Relive the gold medal game with five highlights starring the seven Minnesota natives.
Congratulations to Lee Stecklein (Roseville), Kelly Pannek (Plymouth), Gigi Marvin (Warroad), Hannah Brandt (Vadnais Heights), Sidney Morin (Minnetonka), Dani Cameranesi (Plymouth), Maddie Rooney (Andover), head coach Robb Stauber (Duluth), assistant coach Brett Strot (Maple Grove) and the rest of Team USA!
Minnetonka’s Sidney Morin helps Team USA jump to a 1-0 lead in the first period. With Hilary Knight parked in front of the net, Morin rifles a low, hard shot from the point, and Knight redirects it home.

Down by 1 with just over 6 minutes to play in regulation, Plymouth native Kelly Pannek gathers the puck after Maddie Rooney denies a Canadian odd-man rush, and fires a perfect stretch pass to Monique Lamoureux-Morando, who ties the game and sends it to overtime.

A nice save leads to a breakaway goal by @moniquelam7 to knot @TeamUSA @usahockey women and Canada at 2 late in the third! #WinterOlympics https://t.co/R7Kzi4a9HS pic.twitter.com/1SG7VQfW68
After Rooney makes the opening save on Team Canada’s Natalie Spooner, Gigi Marvin is selected as Team USA’s first shooter. She didn’t let Warroad down and gives the U.S. a crucial shootout goal.
After Jocelyn Lamoureux-Davidson’s electrifying shootout goal, Rooney needed to make one more save. Canada’s Meghan Agosta faked a forehand shot, pulled the puck to her left trying to open up the five-hole. Rooney closes the door and sweeps the puck away from the goal to clinch gold. The bench empties and all of the players swarm their golden goaltender.
.@TeamUSA IS GOLDEN!
