Second Annual Girls Hockey Weekend will included dryland training, on-ice clinics and ticket offers for 12U, 10U and 8U girls.

The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild today announced it will host its second annual Girls’ Hockey Weekend, presented in conjunction with Schwan’s™ Home Delivery, Minnesota Hockey, USA Hockey, the WCHA and the Minnesota Whitecaps, on Dec. 16-17 at Xcel Energy Center. A special ticket package for girls’ youth hockey players is now available at wild.com/girlshockey.

The Wild will dedicate several elements of its game to celebrating girls’ and women’s hockey when it hosts the Edmonton Oilers at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16. Girls’ and women’s hockey players will be featured in the “Let’s Play Hockey!” announcement, the youth starting lineup, and various intermission activities. Proceeds from the Wild’s game program sales and the “Split the Pot Raffle” on Dec. 16 will benefit the Minnesota Whitecaps, the first and only women’s professional-level hockey team in the State of Hockey.

The Wild will host dryland training sessions and on-ice clinics for girls’ hockey players over the weekend in sessions divided by ages 12U, 10U and 8U. Minnesota Whitecaps players and Minnesota Hockey personnel will help lead the weekend’s clinics.

In addition to the on-ice and dryland training sessions, the registration fee of $45 also includes a Wild-branded jersey and a post-clinic pizza party. Participants can select to pay a total registration fee of $81 and also receive a ticket to the Wild’s game against the Oilers on Dec. 16. Guests may purchase additional tickets to the game at wild.com/girlshockey.

The on- and off-ice sessions on Saturday, Dec. 16 will take place after the Wild game, beginning at 5 p.m., for 10U players. A dryland session will be held for 50 girls, while 50 take the ice, and the groups will switch after one hour. On Sunday, 12U players will begin their training at 9 a.m. with 40 girls taking the ice, while 40 more participate in dryland training before the groups switch. The final two sessions will be for 8U players beginning at noon with a total of 120 girls participating over two on-ice sessions.
