Two Goalie Coaching Clinics Set for October

Clinics will be in Duluth and Brooklyn Park

Two USA Hockey Coaching Education Program (CEP) High Performance Goalie Coaching Clinics, designed to teach youth hockey coaches of all skill levels how to effectively work with and develop goalies, are scheduled for October in Duluth and Brooklyn Park.

The clinics include classroom presentations and an on-ice session where participants will observe several demonstration stations and get a chance to try various goalie-specific skating movements.

Scheduled presenters include:

  • Phil Osaer, USA Hockey, ADM Manager for goaltending
  • Emily West, USA Hockey, ADM Manager for female hockey
  • Steve Carroll, Minnesota Hockey, goalie development coordinator
  • Justin Johnson, goalie coach.
  • Patricia "Paddy" Elsmore, goalie coach, College of St. Scholastica women's team.

Coaches should bring skates and gloves and must wear a helmet during the on-ice session.

Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017
Duluth Heritage Sports Center
11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017
Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center
12:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

USA HOCKEY CERTIFICATION:

Youth hockey coaches can move up a level in their CEP certification by attending one of these clinics. For example, a Level 1 coach can move to Level 2, a Level 2 can move to Level 3, a Level 3 can be re-certified. Attending one of these clinics will have no impact on a coach looking to earn their Level 1 or Level 4 certification.  Coaches must attend entire clinic. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $60 and includes meal.
