Minnesota Hockey presented Don Krause with USA Hockey’s Bob O’Connor Award at this week’s CCM High Performance Boys 15 Summer Development Camp. The Bob O’Connor was created in 2016 by USA Hockey with the purpose of recognizing key volunteers for their dedication to the USA Hockey Coach Education Program (CEP) and the development of coaches at the grassroots level.

Krause played a key role in establishing CEP in northern Minnesota during more than a decade of service. Krause’s organization and commitment to excellence enhanced the development of countless coaches in some of Minnesota’s most passion and tradition-filled hockey communities.

USA Hockey coach-in-chief, Mike MacMillan (right), and Minnesota District coach-in-chief, Christian Koelling (left), presented Krause with the award at the Boys HP 15 Summer Development Camp, where Krause is the head coach.

Krause joins Dick Emahiser (2016) as the first two recipients of the Bob O’Connor Award from Minnesota.

Bob O’Connor served Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey for several decades, including 14 years as Coach-in-Chief of Minnesota Hockey, formerly Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association (1980-94); as director of USA Hockey’s Coaches Section for 10 years (1994-2004) and as USA Hockey’s National Coach-in-Chief for two campaigns (2004-06). O’Connor received numerous prestigious honors across all levels of hockey for his endless contributions to the world of coaching.
