Minnesota Wild to Host Inaugural Leadership Summit

Earlier today the Minnesota Wild announced it will host the first-ever Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit on Tuesday, July 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saint Paul RiverCentre and Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, MN.

The Leadership Summit, the first of its kind in Minnesota and throughout the NHL, is open to Minnesota boys and girls high school hockey captains and their coaches. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from various coaches, former captains and sports industry leaders to learn more about becoming a great leader. Attendees will also have an opportunity to attend Minnesota Wild Development Camp on July 11. Coaches can register their teams at wild.com/leadership.

“We are excited to announce the launch of the Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit,” said Director of Marketing Partnerships, Wayne Petersen. “We believe this event will be a great experience for high school hockey players and coaches throughout the State of Hockey.”

Minnesota Wild television play-by-play announcer Anthony LaPanta will serve as a host for two round table discussions during the Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit. Speakers scheduled to participate include:

  • Glen Andresen - Executive Director of Minnesota Hockey
  • David D. Hamlar Jr. - Air Force Brigadier General, MD, DDS; Minnesota Wild craniofacial surgeon
  • Matt Majka - Minnesota Wild Chief Operating Officer
  • Joel Maturi - former University of Minnesota Director of Athletics; Positive Coaching Alliance Trainer
  • Mike Snee - Executive Director of College Hockey, Inc.
  • Hockey coaches Chris Brown - Men’s Hockey Head Coach, Augsburg College
  • Natalie Darwitz - Women’s Hockey Head Coach, Hamline University
  • Jeff Giesen - Women’s Hockey Associate Head Coach, Minnesota State University, Mankato
  • Laura Halldorson - Head Coach, Minnesota Whitecaps
  • Joel Johnson - Women’s Hockey Associate Head Coach, University of Minnesota
  • Travis Winter - Men’s Assistant Hockey Coach, Bemidji State University
  • Former hockey captains Brian Bonin, Hannah Brandt, Shjon Podein and Krissy Wendell Pohl.

The Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit is a free event that is supported by Minnesota Hockey, the Minnesota State High School League and the Minnesota Boys and Girls Hockey Coaches Associations. The schedule and speakers for the Leadership Summit are subject to change.
