Minnesota Hockey has announced that 62 girls have been selected to attend the 2017 USA Hockey Girls Under-18 National Player Development Camps.  The top girls’ hockey players were selected to represent Minnesota following their performances at the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Final 54 Festivals held at Braemar Arena in Edina.

“We’re excited to announce the players that will be representing Minnesota at the national camps this summer,” said High Performance Director, Mike MacMillan. “This is a great moment in each of their young careers. It will be an opportunity for them to train with and against the best players in the country.”

The girls selected will take part in one of two USA Hockey player development camps this summer. The Girls’ U18 Select 66 camp will be held on June 24-30 in Biddeford, Maine and the Girls’ U18 Player Development Camp will take place in St. Cloud, Minnesota on July 15-21.

30 Minnesotans have been chosen to participate in the Select 66 camp, including 11 players who participated in the camp last year. Three of the Minnesota natives selected, Taylor Heise (Red Wing, MN), Gracie Ostertag (Shakopee) and Madeline Wethington (Edina, MN), have helped lead the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team to back-to-back gold medals at the Women’s Under-18 World Championships. Elizabeth Norton (Orono, MN) also returns to the Select 66 camp after winning gold in 2017. The complete roster for the Girls’ U18 Select 66 camp can be found here.

USA Hockey’s Girls U18 Player Development Camp in St. Cloud will feature at least 32 participants from its host state, with many more still under consideration. The participants will come from 23 different communities, spanning from Faribault up to Alexandria and Brainerd.

At this time, any player who has been selected to attend (or who is still in consideration for an at-large) at the National Girls’ Player Development Camps has been notified of her status.

Only players who have been cleared to attend one of the three National Girls’ Player Development camps as of May 16th are listed at the links above. If there is a change in status for any player who is currently "in consideration" as of May 16th, it will be communicated directly to the player on June 20th, the next date in the National Notification Timeline, and these lists will be updated accordingly. The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Programs are conducted in conjunction with USA Hockey and are referred to as “Select” programs in other parts of the country. The national festivals/camps are used by USA Hockey to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the U.S.A. at advanced levels of national and international hockey competition.
