Boys 16/17 Final 54: Day 2

17 Red vs. 16 white

The first matchup between the 16s and 17s kicked off this morning with 17 Red taking on 16 White.  Red jumped on the board early when Hill-Murray's Ben Helgeson scored at 21:37.  Christian Miller (Greenway Bantam A) would tie the game for White at 14:31.  White would carry their momentum through the second half, scoring the last two goals of the game.  Miller scored his second goal of the game at 13:30, giving White a 2-1 lead.  To close out the half, Ryan O'Neill (St. Thomas Academy) scored the final goal of the game at 4:18, securing White's win over Red 3-1.

16 Blue vs. 17 white

Both teams remained neck and neck throughout the first half.  Blue's Shane LaVelle (Chaska) scored at 7:31 and was quickly answered by White, with Levi Stauber (Duluth Marshall) tying the game at 6:09.  The teams remained tied at 1 until 18:47 in the second half when Stauber scored his second goal of the game.  3 minutes later, Stauber got the hat trick, scoring at 15:14.  Jacob Braccini (Buffalo) would attempt to close the gap for Blue with a goal at 10:20, but White continued to dominate, scoring the last three goals of the game and taking the win 6-2.  The final three goals for team White were scored by Luke Mountain (Shattuck), Brady Meyer (North Branch), and Hunter Olson (Bemidji).

17 Blue vs. 16 Red

17 Blue took on 16 Red in our final game of the tournament.  Blue dominated the first half, scoring 4 of their 5 total goals.  Jake Seitz (Virginia) put up the first goal of the game at 21:44 which was quickly followed by another goal from teammate Jack Westlund (Alexandria) at 20:46.  Five minutes later, Blue's Payton Matsui (St. Thomas Academy) added a goal, giving the 17's a 3-0 lead.  Red finally knocked one into the net midway through the half, with Grant Silianoff (Shattuck) posting the 16's only goal of the game.  Blue would close out the half with another goal by Seitz- his second of the game.  Teammate, Westlund would be the lone goal scorer in the second half, scoring his second of the game at 20:48 and securing a 5-1 lead for the Blue 17's.
