CCM HP Girls Select 17: Day 2

SECTION 1A/AA –  6, SECTION 4A/AA – 2

Kenzie Hauswirth (Shattuck-St. Mary’s) had three points (two goals and one assist) and Taylor Heise (Red Wing) scored twice to lead Section 1A to victory. Hauswirth scored in the first at 19:05 on the power play. Section 4 answered back at 17:33 when Haylee Blinkhorn (Hill-Murray) found the corner. Section 4A took the lead at 10:13 with a goal from Claudia Verkerke (White Bear Lake) but Ally Halverson (Rochester JM/Lourdes) used her speed on a short-handed goal to knot the game up 2-2. Section 1 held Section 4 scoreless in the second half, tallying four additional goals in the period to power them to the win. Heise found the back of the net at 19:04 and again at 9:52 on the power play. Hauswirth scored her second at 2:40 and Myia Hoium (Austin) scored at 2:21.

SECTION 5A/AA – 3, SECTION 7A/AA -- 2

It was a tight game that was scoreless until the last 5 minutes of the first; Section 5’s Madeline Wethington (Blake) scored with a backhand to the upper right corner at 5:19. Sadie Peart (Grand Rapids/Greenway) answered back for Section 7, 49 seconds later to end the half tied 1-1. Abbrielle Jones (Blaine) netted the first goal in the second half for a 2-1 Section 5 lead at 22:51, but Mackenzie Rugland (Forest Lake) fed Amber Tilander (International Falls) from behind the net for the easy putaway and tying goal at 7:23. Isabel Daniel (Blake) rung the post for the game-winner at 2:31. 

SECTION 8A/AA -- 2, SECTION 2A/AA -- 0

Two goals midway through the first period was all Section 8 needed to top Section 2. Elice Murphy (Roseau) buried a rebound down low for the 1-0 lead at 13:55. McKenzie Oelkers (Warroad) added the second goal at 11:57. Brook Walters (Sartell-Sauk Rapids) assisted on both goals. Section 8 goaltender Madison Demarais (Sartell-Sauk Rapids) turned away 17 shots in the second frame to seal the win and combined with Jordyn Tomaszewski (River Lakes) for the shutout.

SECTION 6A/AA -- 7, SECTION 3A/AA -- 2

Amanda Nylander (Benilde-St. Margaret's) scored four goals and Carolina Bowlby (Edina) had a four-point game (one goal, three assists) en route to a 7-2 win for Section 7 over Section 3. Bowlby scored at 18:11, followed by Lolita Fidler (Edina) at 15:13. Nylander got her first of four at 15:01 for a 3-0 lead. Alana Wall (Roseville) got Section 3 on the board at 12:59 by Nylander tallied her second at 9:23 for a 3-1 score. With 54 seconds remaining in the first Jenna Gerold (Farmington) hammered home a rebound to close the gap at half, 4-2. Nylander scored two in the first eight minutes (19:09 and 16:40) and Gabrielle Huson (Benilde-St. Margaret's) scored at 4:44 for the 7-2 final.
