CCM HP Girls Select 16: Day 2

SECTION 3A/AA - 4, SECTION 1A/AA - 3

In a back and forth battle, Section 3A/AA came back from deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to pull out a late one-goal win over Section 1A/AA. Sydney Breza and Victoria Johnson scored goals just over a minute apart in the first half to give Section 1A/AA a 2-0 lead. Goals by Brooke Peplinski and Addi Scribner helped Section 3A/AA tie the game, but Section 1A/AA regained the lead heading into half on an unassisted tally by Currie Putrah. The second half was all  Section 3A/AA though. Jenna Hartung evened the score just a few minutes into the period, Ashley Larson slammed the door stopping all 16 shots by Section 1A/AA and Madison Davis came through with a clutch game winner.

SECTION 8A/AA - 6, SECTION 2A/2AA - 2 

After giving up an early goal to Section 2A/2AA's Lauren Moravchek (New Prague) Section 8A/8AA responded with six consecutive goals on their way to an impressive 6-2 victory.  Alexa Kennedy (Park Rapids) started the scoring at the 18 minute mark of the first half.  Gabrielle Rud (Saint Cloud) scored the eventual game winner two minutes later, and her team never relinquished the lead.  Madelynn Hamman (Anoka) added the next two goals, both on assists from Abby Pohlkamp (Brainerd/Little Falls), who finished the first half scoring with a goal of her own.  Gabrielle Smith (Brainerd/Little Falls)  completed the scoring for Section 8A/8AA early in the second half, and Section 2A/2AA's Charlotte Huntington (Prior Lake) closed out the scoring with 10:28 remaining in the second half.  Anna LaRose (North Wright County), Chloe Stockinger (Sartell-Sauk Rapids) and Olivia King (Brainerd/Little Falls) combined to stop 31 shots on their way to the 6-2 Section 8A/8AA victory.  Cassie Reed (New Ulm) and Maddie Wilsey (Roseville) made a combined 20 saves for Section 2A/2AA.  Section 8A/8AA advances to the consolation championship, Sunday morning at 10:15 am.

SECTION 4A/4AA - 2, SECTION 6A/6AA - 0 

Section 4A/4AA scored once in each half, which was enough to best their crosstown rivals from Section 6A/6AA 2-0.  Lauren Einan (Stillwater) scored with 10:17 remaining in the first half, with an assist going to Sophie Schuster (Stillwater).  Section 4A/4AA increased the lead to its final margin, on a goal by Jenna Hoops (St. Paul United).  Teagen Johnson (Mounds View) and Maddison Lehto (Roseville) combined to make 27 saves in securing the shutout.  Elli Strittmater (Edina) and Megan Meyers (Cretin-Derham Hall) turned aside 24 shots in an equally impressive effort.

SECTION 5A/5AA - 6, SECTION 7A/7AA - 0 

Lily Delianedis (Blake) broke a scoreless tie midway through the first half, and Section 5A5AA never looked back.  The other two first half markers came on goals by Adelaide Burton (Blake) and Grace Johnson (Blake).  In the second half added three additional goals, and coasted to a 6-0 final.  Maija Almich (Cenntennial) increased the lead to 4-0, before Madison Mashuga (Anoka) closed out the scoring, adding the last two goals.  Mackenna Stoterau (Centennial) had 7 first half saves, while Baleigh Shuck (Champlin Park) completed the shut-out with 11 saves in the second stanza.  Rachel Miller (Saint Francis/Cambridge-Isanti) and Abby Edstrom (Hibbing/Chisholm) each faced 14 shots in their respective halves, and made 11 saves for Section 7A/7AA.
