HP Seniors Pool Play

Team Orange (Section 4&5) - 5, Team Royal (Section 2&6) - 2

Team Orange scored four unanswered goal and coasted to a 5-2 victory over Team Royal to clinch a berth into the championship game on Sunday. 

Justin Kelley netted a goal past the midway point of the first half off assists from Dominic Picciano and Jarrett Cammarata. Luke Heffernan found his first goal of the festival courtesy of Isaac Moberg and Matt Jennrich who earned assists on the play.  Nick Wienciek stopped 11 of 13 shots for Team Royal, while Bob Parenteau made 20 saves for a shutout in the first.

Emmet Nath found the net halfway through the final half, and made a picturesque assist to Jack Johnston which gave Team Orange a four-goal lead with eight minutes remaining. Nick Gonrowski and Carter Breitenfeldt netted goals for Team Royal to keep their team in striking distance, but a late goal from Keegan Bauman iced the win for Team Orange. Reid Waszczenko denied 17 of 20 shots, and Justin Evenson turned aside 18 of 20.

Team Red (Section 1&3) - 4, Team Yellow (Section 7&8) - 1

Team Red earned its first win of the festival following a 4-1 win over Team Yellow in the final game of pool play.

Brock Draeger dished out assists to Colin Sieh and Dan Sandvig in the first half to give Team Red and early edge. Joshua Kenney contributed to the early lead by stopping all 11 shots he faced in net for Team Red. Kyle Hayden denied 16 of 18 shots for Team Yellow.

Josh Maucieri's goal put Team Yellow on the board 3:42 into the final half, but a goal by Luke Larson and Sandvig's second of the game secured Team Red the victory. Cade McEwen stopped 17 of 19 shots for Team Yellow, while Ryan Bielenberg turned aside 19 of 20.

 

HP 18's Pool Play

Team Kelly (Section 2&6) - 6, Team Light Blue (Section 4&5) - 1

Team Kelly shutdown Team Light Blue in the second half and cruised to a 6-1 win.

Sasha Shogren got Team Kelly on the board 1:03 into the game. Joesph Molenaar extended the lead after finding the net with the help of Luke Mobley and Justin DalyBen Ward cut the lead to one before defensive tandem Jack Powell and Peter Tabor joined forces for decisive goal with 5:50 to play in the first half. Jackson Hjelle stopped 12 of 13 in net for Team Kelly, while Bryce Crowley made 19 of 22 stops for Team Light Blue.

James Marooney, Ben Almquist and Jerome Hirschfeld all found the net in the second half as Team Green pulled away in dominant fashion the final 26 minutes. Griffen Ness notched his second assist on Hirschfeld's goal on the power play with 1:10 remaining. Jacob Toensing was under heavy duress and stopped 28 of 31 shots in the final frame. Linden Olness served as Team Kelly's backstop and kept the puck in front of him on all 18 shots he faced. 

Team Purple (Section 7&8) - 7, Team White (Section 1&3) - 3

Team Purple advances to the championship game Sunday after 13 different players notched a point in a seven straight goal scoring run that resulted in a 7-3 win over Team White.

Team White jumped out to a two-goal lead after Jack Olsen assisted Hunter Jacobs' goal and scored one of his own 3:40 into the game. Team Purple answered with three goals to close the final half by Aaron Myers, Tyler Watkins and Tommy Laabs who found the net with one second remaining to give his team its first lead heading into the locker room.

Cole O’Connell found the net 43 seconds into the second half. The goal kickstarted Team Purple as Jack Stetz, Carter Randklev and Alex Verbout all scored to put the game away. Olsen netted his second goal for Team White in the latter minutes of the game. Matt Fitzgerald stopped 25 of 26 shots for Team Purple in the final half.
