Congratulations to Jim Moline of the Eastview Hockey Association (“EHA”) on being named November’s Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month! Moline is entering his second season as Eastview’s Recruiting Coordinator and is already making a major impact on the number of kids playing hockey in their community.

In his first season, Moline made an effort to ensure Eastview was taking advantage of all the resources available through Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey. Eastview participated in its first ever national Try Hockey For Free day, coordinated with the Little Wild Learn to Play program, completed USA Hockey’s 2 and 2 Challenge and applied for a Gear Up Minnesota! grant for starter equipment.

“This is the first year EHA has received a Gear Up Minnesota! grant,” said Katy Benoit of Total Hockey, one of the grant program's presenting partners.  “Jim Moline did a fantastic job outlining the merits of how the grant will benefit his organization.  Further, Jim has communicated with these new families in a simple and straightforward manner, allowing them to focus on the benefit of receiving proper fitting gear rather than worrying about the process.”

“It is volunteers like Jim who make the Gear Up Minnesota! program the best it can be!”

As a result, Eastview introduced more new 8 & Under players to hockey than the association had in the past 15 years.

This season Moline and EHA took their recruiting efforts to the next level by offering their own Intro to Hockey program. The pre-season program provided new families with children ages 4-11 the opportunity to participate in three on-ice lessons before making the decision on whether to participate in the full season. The players received most of their equipment for free and could register for the rest of the year at a discounted rate.

Minnesota Hockey and Total Hockey would like to thank Jim Moline for everything he’s done to get more kids playing hockey in the Eastview area!  It is volunteers like Jim across our state who make community hockey in Minnesota so special.
