Hockey Day Flag Raised in Lowell Park as Preparations Continue for Statewide Hockey Celebration on Jan. 21

STILLWATER, Minn. – The official 11th Annual Wells Fargo Hockey Day Minnesota flag was raised during a special ceremony at Stillwater’s Lowell Park today to mark 100 days to the statewide hockey celebration, which will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21. Headquartered from an outdoor rink that will be constructed in Lowell Park, the backdrop will feature the historic Lift Bridge and the scenic St. Croix River Valley. Proceeds of the event will benefit Stillwater area youth hockey programs.

“The Stillwater LOC has been working hard at getting Lowell Park prepared for groundbreaking activities that will begin in December,” said Tony Novalany, chair of the Stillwater Organizing Committee. “These activities are being led by a group of about 20 that are spearheading efforts from site development to ticketing. The passion and excitement from the team leading this effort and the community surrounding it has been amazing. We’ve been planning these efforts for months and will soon be putting those plans into action. It’s going to be an exciting winter in downtown Stillwater.”

FOX Sports North has added two live games to its Hockey Day programming. The Minnesota State University – Mankato vs. St. Cloud State University women’s game at 3 p.m., and Minnetonka vs. Stillwater girls game, now at 5:30 p.m., will both be televised live on the FOX Sports North PLUS channel. The girls’ high school game will also be rebroadcast on FOX Sports North following the Wild game that night. FOX Sports North coverage now includes six live games, over 18 hours of original programming and 35 hours of consecutive hockey on two channels.
