The Prairie Island Indian Community was recognized during the Minnesota Wild home game on October 22nd, 2015 for their outstanding support of the youth and disabled hockey programs in Minnesota.

The Prairie Island Indian Community has long been a tremendous supporter of youth hockey throughout Minnesota.  They have been involved with program sales at Minnesota Wild games since the 2008-09 season and have made generous donations to Minnesota Disabled Hockey for six consecutive seasons.

The contributions made by Prairie Island Indian Community have helped fund the growth of each branch of disabled hockey in Minnesota: Minnesota Warriors for disabled veterans, Minnesota Sled Hockey for those with physical disabilities and Minnesota Special Hockey which provides opportunities for players with developmental disabilities.

“Minnesota Disabled Hockey is proud to have the amazing support of the Prairie Island Indian Community,” said Toni Gillen, Director of Disabled Hockey for Minnesota Hockey.  “Prairie Island has been with us from the beginning, and through their generosity, we have grown to become the largest disabled hockey program in the country.  Prairie Island has made it possible for people of all abilities in the State of Minnesota to play the game they love.”

Prairie Island Indian Community continues to play a major role in making it possible for every person in Minnesota, regardless of ability, to play hockey. Thank you for assuring that hockey in Minnesota is for everyBODY!
