Boys' and Girls' HP 14/15 Fall Festivals set to take place this weekend in Edina and Anoka.

The top 2001 and 2002 birth years in Minnesota are set to compete this weekend in the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance 14/15 Fall Festival.  The Boys HP 14/15 Fall Festival will take place Friday, September 25th through Sunday, September 27th at Braemar Arena in Edina, with the Girls HP 14/15 Fall Festival occurring at the same time at Anoka Area Ice Arena.

The HP 14/15 Fall Festival is the last of three stages in the HP 14/15 program. The program starts in early summer by testing the 14 and 15 year old players in Minnesota against the best players in their area with district tryouts. The selected players are provided with three weeks of training in September before moving onto the Fall Festival where they get to compete against the top players in the state at their age level.

“You really couldn’t draw this program up any better from a long term development perspective,” said Rochester native and Regional ADM Manager for USA Hockey, Guy Gosselin. “The main focus is on skill development through local training sessions.  Then, you give those players a chance to implement those skills in a game setting against high end competition, while maintaining an emphasis on development not immediate results.”

As Gosselin eludes to, there will be no shortage of high end talent at the Fall Festival.  Last year’s HP 14/15 Fall Festivals included more than 20 players that went on to attend USA Hockey Player Development camps this summer. Here’s a closer look at this year’s district teams and their schedules.

“The HP 14/15 program continues our tradition of providing hockey players in Minnesota with the opportunity to develop with and against the best players in the state,” said High Performance Director Mike MacMillan. “Not to mention, it will provide these players with a great way to prepare for future HP programs, and make an early impression on coaches and scouts.”

The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance 14/15 Program is the first component in a series of programs that constitute the Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey Development Process.  It is staffed by the top youth, high school, college and USA Hockey coaches.  For more information on the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance programs, click here.
