28 Minnesotans to Compete in Women’s National Festival

The 2015 USA Hockey Women's National Festival kicks off today at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York and will run through August 16th. USA Hockey has announced an 83-player roster that will attend the festival, including 28 Minnesotans.

The festival is an annual training session that will also be used to select two 22-player rosters for a pair of series against Canada held simultaneously from Aug. 19-23 at the Lake Placid Olympic Center. The U.S. will feature an Under-18 Select Team and Under-22 Select Team, which will be announced on August 17th.

Twenty-two members of the U.S. Women's National Team that won gold at the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship and nine members of the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team that won gold at the 2015 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship will take part in the festival.

The group of Minnesotans invited to participate includes three 2014 U.S. Olympians (Gigi Marvin, Anne Schleper and Lee Stecklein), five former Ms. Hockey award winners and 12 current Minnesota Girls High School Hockey players.  A full list of Minnesota natives is available below.
