For some, coaching is a calling. In Minnesota, we’ve been blessed with some of the best at all levels of hockey.

Each year Minnesota Hockey takes time to recognize such an individual who has dedicated at least ten years of service to various player development programs with the Ted Brill Award.

The award, which is given at the annual awards banquet, was established with great respect and fond memories for one of the most influential leaders in Minnesota Hockey history. At the 2015 Awards Banquet on April 18th, Minnesota Hockey honored Tom Peart.

For over 32 years, Peart has spent time behind the bench at all levels of the game. He coached both boys’ and girls’ high school hockey for a combined 17 years, as well as college hockey for 12, on both the women’s and men’s side.

Peart has also expanded his role beyond the bench, and has been heavily involved in administrative aspects of the game. He is a key member of the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association, serving on their Executive Board for five-plus years as the Director of Special Projects. He also serves as the Executive Director, a Section Representative and as the Director of Special Projects for the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association.

For years, Peart has made his mark with Minnesota Hockey. He started out working at the Minnesota Hockey Bantam Festival and helped with the first Maroon and Gold All-Star Series. After years of working the Boy’s 16’s and 17’s National Camps, Peart began evaluating on the girl’s side for the selection process for the National Camps. In 2008, he took over as Director of the Girls High Performance 16’s and 17’s programs. Since 2006, he has served as the General Manager of the Dave Peterson High Performance Goaltender Camp.

His influence goes beyond the State of Hockey. Peart has also served as an Associate Coach-in-Chief for USA Hockey for five years. He has helped run High Performance and Level 4 Clinics and has spoken on Goaltending, amongst other topics at many Level 1, 2 and 3 Clinics. He has facilitated the Girl’s and Boy’s Fall High Performance clinics for the past six years.

Undoubtedly his resume is not thin, and constantly growing. Thank you, Tom, for your passion and commitment to our game!
