The 2015 CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance 14/15 programs have opened registration for district tryouts. This program is designed to provide boys and girls hockey players from the 2001 and 2002 birth years an opportunity to train with and against the best players from Minnesota at their age level.

District tryouts for the Boys’ and Girls’ HP 14/15 program will take place this spring with the majority of them occurring in May.  Following tryouts, players are selected to participate in three weeks of skill development and high performance training with their district coaching staff during the month of September. Then, the district teams finish off the program by competing against one another in the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance 14/15 Fall Festivals on September 25th - 27th.

“You really couldn’t draw this program up any better from a long term development perspective,” said Rochester native and Regional ADM Manager for USA Hockey, Guy Gosselin. “The main focus is on skill development through local training sessions.  Then, you give those players a chance to implement those skills in a game setting against high end competition, while maintaining an emphasis on development, not immediate results.”

By utilizing a combination of dry land and on-ice sessions that focus on the development of skating, stick skills and body checking during the district training period, the HP 14/15 program helps prepare players for high school hockey and participation in the High Performance 15, 16, 17, and 18 programs.

“The HP 14/15 program continues our tradition of providing hockey players in Minnesota with the opportunity to develop with and against the best players in the state,” said High Performance Director Mike MacMillan. “Not to mention, it will provide these players with a great way to prepare for future HP programs, and make an early impression on coaches and scouts.”

Boys that competed at the Peewee A/AA and Bantam A/AA levels during the 2014-15 season are eligible to try out for their district team.  The Girls HP 14/15 program is open to 12U A, 14U A and High School JV or Varsity players. Boys and girls that participated on B teams are also eligible if that is the top team their association offered.

As official components of the Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey Player Development process, the CCM High Performance 14/15 programs will staffed by high school, college, youth and USA Hockey coaches.
