Hockey Weekend Across America is this weekend February 20-22, 2015.  Entering its eighth year, Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM, is an annual celebration of youth hockey throughout the country.

"Hockey Weekend Across America is something the hockey community looks forward to each year," said Dave Ogrean, executive director of USA Hockey. "From grassroots programs across the country to the National Hockey League and every level in between, this weekend is about celebrating all the wonderful things about our sport and also giving new people a chance to try our game, whether it be on the ice as a player or as a fan attending a game."

The weekend kicks off with “Wear Your Jersey” day as kids and adults alike are encouraged to show their hockey pride throughout the day by sporting their favorite hockey jersey.  Share photos of your jersey on Facebook and Twitter using #HWAA for a chance to be highlighted by Minnesota Hockey or USA Hockey.

On Saturday, the focus turns to introducing new families to our great game with the second Try Hockey For Free event of the season. Kids ages 4-9 will have numerous opportunities to try hockey at no cost as there will be 35 communities hosting events in Minnesota and hundreds more nationwide. Find a location near you.

Hockey Weekend Across America wraps up on Sunday with “Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes” day. USA Hockey encourages fans across the country to share pictures and stories on social media of how heroes in their community make a difference through hockey. In addition, NBC will be hosting its Hockey Day in America broadcast with three straight NHL games, concluding at Xcel Energy Center as your Minnesota Wild host the Dallas Stars.

For more information and up-to-date coverage on any of these events, visit HockeyWeekendAcrossAmerica.com. Associations, teams and communities celebrating Hockey Weekend Across America are encouraged to submit their event plans to USA Hockey at this site. Promotional materials, including posters and logos, are also available for download. Use the hashtag #HWAA on Twitter in association with the event.
