Minnesota Hockey’s Peewee A State Champion To Compete Against Champions From Midwest

St. Paul, MN – February 2, 2015 – Minnesota Hockey today announced it will once again send the Minnesota Hockey State Champion at the Peewee A level to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin to compete against State Champions from around the Midwest in the Midwest Regional Peewee Invite. Champions from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Mid American and North Dakota will be taking part in the tournament being held March 27 – 29, 2015.

The Peewee A champion will go up against Tier II champions from the other USA Hockey affiliates. The goal of the tournament is to offer a USA Hockey National Tournament atmosphere and a competitive environment without extensive travel and loss of school days. The tournament will be played in a Round Robin format, with each participant guaranteed three games.

This will be the second year of the tournament’s existence. Last year’s Peewee A State Champions Highland Central of St. Paul competed in the tournament, finishing with a record of 2-1-0.

“This is a great opportunity for our Peewee A state champion team to stay together for one more weekend while competing against top teams from around the Midwest,” said Dave Margenau, President of Minnesota Hockey. “Last year’s tournament was extremely well done and we’re looking forward to this year’s Peewee A State Champion getting the opportunity.”

Should a Minnesota Hockey state champion not be able to attend the tournament, the state runner-up would then be invited. The third place team would be the next team invited should neither team be able to attend.

The Minnesota Hockey Youth State Tournaments will take place at locations across the state during the weekend of March 13--15. The Peewee A tournament will take place in Lakeville’s Hasse Arena. Minnesota Hockey’s Drive to State is powered by Select Heartland Chevy Dealers.

More details about the Peewee Regional Tournament will be released in the coming weeks.
