Minnesota Hockey is excited to reveal the finalists for the 2015 HEP Essay Contest, presented by Park Dental. Entries have been submitted by youth and girls players of all ages from around the state on the topic of “My parents support my love of hockey by…” Each of the finalists’ essays will be highlighted on Hockey Day Minnesota 2015, and the winner will be announced following the Minnesota Wild game.

This season’s HEP Essays were a great reflection of how crucial the support of parents and grandparents are to their young hockey players.  In addition to the common sacrifices of time, money and energy, players took the time to recognize specific acts such as cheering them on even when losing or making mistakes, practicing with them on outdoor rinks and building areas where they can practice shooting at home. There’s no doubt the kids are the real winners when parents work selflessly to give their kids an amazing youth hockey experience.

The following finalists have been selected to be featured during the Fox Sports North broadcast of Hockey Day Minnesota 2015 on Saturday, January 17th:

  • Billy Vogt and Sartell Youth Hockey Association’s Squirt A team
  • Allie Lemke, a 12U player from Long Prairie Youth Hockey Association
  • Billie Donohue, a 12U player from Andover Youth Hockey Association

Tune in to Fox Sports North on Hockey Day Minnesota following the Minnesota Wild game to find out who the randomly selected winner will be.  The contest winner will receive a “dream day” experience on a Minnesota Wild game day during the 2015-16 season.
