The second USA Hockey Try Hockey For Free day of the 2014-15 season is scheduled for Saturday, February 21st. The Try Hockey For Free day will be held in conjunction with Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM, which is set for Feb. 20-22, 2015.

Approximately 40 local associations and arenas in Minnesota are expected to host an event this February, giving kids numerous opportunities to try hockey.  Last winter, 1,168 kids attended Try Hockey For Free events in Minnesota on March 1st, 2014.  The event was held following the 2014 Olympics in Sochi and set new records for Minnesota’s number of participants and sites (48) for the winter Try Hockey For Free day.

Try Hockey For Free day is a biannual event that encourages kids ages 4-9 throughout the US to come to a local rink and try hockey at no cost.  Host sites help provide equipment, allowing kids and parents to try the sport without the initial costs of equipment or ice time.  In addition to having the chance to try hockey, participants also receive a free jersey and a goodie bag to take home.

Starting in mid January, potential participants will have the opportunity to search for a host site near them and register to try hockey
