Four Minnesota Goalies Garner Weekly Awards

With so many talented hockey players from Minnesota playing beyond high school, it can be hard to keep up with all of them. For that reason, Minnesota Hockey is proud to bring you this weekly recap of Minnesota players that are honored by the top junior, collegiate and professional leagues so that you can keep an eye on all of your former teammates, rivals and alumni.


East Coast Hockey League (ECHL)


This 2003 Northfield graduate has been on a steady climb in the minors since graduating from Western Michigan.

CCM Goaltender of the Week

Riley Gill

Gill went 3-0-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average and a save percentage of .956 in three appearances last week.

The 29-year-old stopped 28 shots in a 3-1 win at Missouri on Friday, made 30 saves in a 3-2 victory at Wichita on Saturday and turned aside 29 shots in a 3-1 win against Rapid City on Sunday.

A native of Northfield, Minn., Gill is 4-2-0 in seven appearances this season and is second in the ECHL with a .931 save percentage and sixth with a 2.16 goals-against average.

CCM Forward of the Week

Adam Johnson

F, Sioux City Musketeers

The 20-year-old recorded five points (4g, 1a) and a plus-five rating to help his team win two of three games during the week.  He had three points (2g, 1a) in Tuesday’s 8-4 victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks, including a shorthanded tally just 1:27 into the contest.  He also posted a game high plus-four rating.  Johnson added two more goals, including the game-winner, in Friday’s 6-3 victory against the Fargo Force.  The Hibbing, Minnesota native and product of Hibbing-Chisholm High School is currently tied for fifth in USHL scoring with 18 points (9g, 9a) through 16 games, and he is tied for the League lead with three game-winning goals.  He will play college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth next season.
