The 2014 Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance 14/15 Programs kick off this week with district tryouts. This program is designed to train hockey players from the 2000 and 2001 birth years for high school hockey and participation in the High Performance 15, 16, 17, and 18 programs.

New this season, there will be a HP 14/15 program for girls players in addition to the boys' program that was started last year. Boys’ players that competed in the Peewee A/AA and Bantam A/AA levels during the 2013-14 season are encouraged to try out for their district team.  The Girls HP 14/15 program is open to 12U A, 14U A and High School JV or Varsity players. Boys and girls that participated on B teams are also eligible if that is the top team their association offered.

Following tryouts, selected players will participate in three weeks of skill development and high performance training with their district coaching staff during the month of September. At the conclusion of the training period, teams will finish the program by competing against the other districts in the Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance Fall Festival on September 26th - 28th.

“The HP 14/15 program will continue our tradition of providing hockey players in Minnesota with the opportunity to develop with and against the best players in the state,” said High Performance Director Mike MacMillan. “Not to mention, it will provide these players with a great way to prepare for future HP programs, and make an early impression on coaches and scouts.”

While the HP 14/15 program doesn’t have a national component like those for the older age groups, the program continues to function as a component of the Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey Player Development Process.  It will be staffed by high school, college, youth and USA coaches.
