Hot Shots: Weekly Award Winners for Nov. 11-17

With so many talented hockey players from Minnesota playing beyond high school, it can be hard to keep up with all of them. For that reason, Minnesota Hockey is proud to bring you this weekly recap of Minnesota players that are honored by the top junior, collegiate and professional leagues so that you can keep an eye on all of your former teammates, rivals and alumni.


East Coast Hockey League

John Curry of the Orlando Solar Bears is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Nov. 4-10. It is the third time in his ECHL career that Curry has received the weekly honor.

The 29-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .943 in two appearances last week.

Curry stopped 35 shots in a 4-1 win against Elmira on Thursday and then made 31 saves in a 6-3 victory over Toledo on Sunday.

A native of Shorewood, Minn., Curry has appeared in five games with the Solar Bears this season posting a record of 4-1-0 with a 2.38 goals-against average and a save percentage of .927.

Curry has played in 44 career ECHL games with Orlando, Wheeling and Las Vegas with a 25-14-2 record, a 2.78 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910. He has appeared in 178 career games in the American Hockey League with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Houston, and has four games of NHL experience with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
